  • These sports jousts are the final result of an intervention process that began on the Island of Barú in January and that is developed in alliance with several private and public organizations in the area to promote the rescue of the ancestral games that predominate in the Barulera culture.
  • The total value of the Sports Project on Barú Island amounts to COP $ 139 Million and Grupo Argos’ contribution to sports events amounts to COP 30 million.

Grupo Argos, convinced of the impact that sport has on the positive transformation of the country, joins the Proyecto Deportivo Isla de Barú (PDIB) with a contribution of about COP 30 million pesos for the Sports Project on the Island of Barú, which includes the realization of the VII version of the Sports and Ancestral Games of the Island in 2021.

The inauguration of the Games, which took place on September 11 in the town of Ararca, seeks to display and promote the island’s sports talent, rescue the ancestral games that predominate in the Barulera culture and contribute to healthy coexistence. This edition of the sports fair brings together more than 690 athletes among children and young people, in competitions in baseball, athletics, softball, soccer, boating and kickball.

The Sports Project Isla Barú has three lines of intervention: Education and Community Projection, Sports Seedbeds and Sports and Ancestral Games, and is possible thanks to the union of wills of Grupo Argos with the Real Star Sports Corporation, Fundación Deportiva Isla de Barú, the Recrear Barú Sports Association, the Isla de Barú Corpoclub Sports Club, Aura Hotel Barú, Hotel Isla del Encanto, the Somos Barú Association, and the Decamerón, Santo Domingo and Aviatur foundations.
