With 91 years of history, Grupo Argos continues to move forward as a key ally in progress and development through infrastructure
28 February 2025- Grupo Argos’ infrastructure project pipeline contemplates investments of more than COP 40 trillion.
- In the first days of the year, Grupo Argos was recognized as one of the most attractive companies for local and international investors, according to reports from Davivienda Corredores, Credicorp Capital, and the Financial Opinion Survey by Fedesarrollo.
- For 91 years, Grupo Argos has driven industrial and infrastructure growth in Colombia and the region, based on a business vision centered on generating economic value in balance with social well-being and environmental care.
One of the pillars that has defined Grupo Argos’ trajectory of growth and development is its commitment to generating value for its shareholders. The Colombian company was founded in 1934 and, 91 years later, has managed to consolidate an equity of COP 52 trillion.

“The consistency in value creation and profit distribution, in addition to being an indicator of financial strength, is a testament to the trust that Grupo Argos inspires in its shareholders, who have stood by the company through nearly a century of transformations and growth.”
Jorge Mario Velásquez
President of Grupo Argos
Future Projection: Over COP 40 Trillion in Infrastructure Projects in Colombia and the Region
The company’s focus on the infrastructure sector, supported by the capabilities developed throughout its history, positions Grupo Argos to continue deepening and expanding its reach in structuring, operating, and managing regional infrastructure platforms. This ambitious plan, already underway, includes projects exceeding COP 40 trillion in the medium term, with key highlights in:
- Building Materials: Cementos Argos will have a historic opportunity following the divestment of Summit, which will bring in approximately COP 12 trillion in cash.
- Energy: Celsia will continue expanding its non-conventional renewable energy portfolio, with over 1,000 MW of solar energy in Colombia and more than 200 MW of wind energy in Peru. It will also launch wind projects in Colombia, such as the Carreto Wind Farm in the Atlántico department.
- Road and Airport Concessions: Odinsa is advancing the execution of a project portfolio in Colombia, including the expansion of El Dorado Airport with the El Dorado Max project, the New Cartagena Airport, the expansion of the Túnel de Oriente in Antioquia, Conexión Centro in the Coffee Region, and the Perimetral de la Sabana in Cundinamarca, among others. If awarded, these projects would represent an investment of over COP 20 trillion in the country.
91 Years of a Business Vision That Balances Economic Value Creation with Social and Environmental Well-Being
As part of the commemoration of its first 90 years of history, in 2024, Grupo Argos Foundation decided to leave a lasting legacy in Colombia through two iconic projects inspired by the principles and values that gave birth to the organization in 1934: Juntos por Urabá and Generación A.
- Juntos por Urabá is a comprehensive social investment strategy in Nueva Colonia, Turbo, the community closest to the port. This project represents an investment of more than COP 100 billion, combining Obras por Impuestos resources and direct social investment. It involves 15 public and private stakeholders, led by Grupo Argos, and is transforming the lives of over 12,000 residents with initiatives such as the construction of the town’s sewer system, the distribution of 1,300 water filters, the construction of a new high school, and the renovation of 1,000 homes.
- Generación A, on the other hand, is a higher education scholarship initiative that aims to connect high school graduates from Antioquia with academic programs at three of Colombia’s top-performing universities: EIA, EAFIT, and CES. To ensure its long-term sustainability, Grupo Argos and the universities have established an endowment fund, a mechanism where an initial capital contribution is invested to generate annual returns, securing perpetual funding for a set number of scholarships.
