- These works represent investments exceeding COP 14 billion and will optimize vehicle flow in the conurbation of Barranquilla with Puerto Colombia, improving travel times for citizens.

Grupo Argos’ Urban Development Business is advancing the construction of two new road connections aimed at improving mobility in the area of influence of Ciudad Mallorquín, within the conurbation of Barranquilla with Puerto Colombia. The roads which will enter service at the end of 2024, represent investments exceeding COP 14 billion, and aim to optimize vehicle flow in that sector with the subsequent reduction in travel times for citizens.
The first of these infrastructures is the connection between Carrera 20 in Puerto Colombia and Avenida Circunvalar in Barranquilla, designed as a crucial step to facilitate traffic on Carrera 23 during peak hours. The approximately 600 vehicles that circulate in the sector during the highest flow times will have an alternative to avoid Carrera 23, benefiting especially educational institutions in the area.
The second work is the connection of Carrera 22 in Puerto Colombia with Avenida Circunvalar in Barranquilla, designed mainly for residents of Ciudad Mallorquín. This road will improve accessibility and connectivity through this urban development, which will enhance the quality of life for the inhabitants of this sector.
Both projects, which boost the region’s economy and generate hundreds of jobs in the construction phase, are part of the Comprehensive Plan for Analysis, Monitoring, and Transportation Planning defined since 2012 by the Urban Development Business of Grupo Argos. This plan has allowed, in collaboration with local administrations, the development of new roads and bike paths, and quantifying their impact and benefits to strengthen the mobility system of the Barranquilla metropolitan area.
In addition to these projects, the connection over Calle 2 towards Vía la Playa was delivered and put into operation ahead of schedule in 2022. This work has increased permeability in the area and contributes to greater fluidity in mobility, currently benefiting more than 500 users daily.
These new urban connections add to the 108 kilometers of roads and 7.5 kilometers of bike paths that the company has developed over the last 10 years, with a consolidated investment whose replacement cost today amounts to COP 1.4 trillion.
“We are committed to implementing a road system that ensures proper vehicle traffic in the conurbation of Puerto Colombia with Barranquilla, just as we have done in urban developments carried out over the last 12 years in the city. With these new road connections, we reaffirm our purpose to continue contributing, with total conviction, to improving mobility as a fundamental element of the positive transformation of citizens’ quality of life.”
