More than 800 people in the village of Nueva Colonia, in Turbo, Antioquia, now have access to decent housing

• This marks the first milestone of the Juntos por Urabá project, which includes three areas of intervention: housing improvement, water and basic sanitation, and community and educational infrastructure.
• In total, 250 homes were upgraded, enhancing their infrastructure: floors, bathrooms, and kitchens. These improvements directly impact families’ quality of life by visually transforming their living spaces and reducing health risks. They eliminate parasites, bacteria, and viruses commonly found in dirt floors, as well as disease-carrying insects.
• Juntos por Urabá is a comprehensive intervention project aimed at improving the quality of life for 12,000 residents of Nueva Colonia, a village in Turbo, Antioquia.
• This initiative involves collaboration among more than 15 public and private organizations, as well as national and regional government entities.

As part of Juntos por Urabá, the initiative led by Grupo Argos in partnership with 15 other public and private organizations aimed at transforming Nueva Colonia in Turbo, Antioquia, the first 250 housing upgrades were delivered out of the 1,000 planned within a three-year intervention in the region. In total, over 4,000 people will benefit from renovated homes that significantly enhance their quality of life, marking the beginning of meaningful change in the area.

The intervention in family homes includes key infrastructure improvements such as floors, bathrooms, and kitchens, reducing the risk of diseases by eliminating transmission vectors like parasites and bacteria. This has a direct impact on the health and well-being of the families.

In Antioquia, while 5.7% of homes have structural deficiencies, this figure rises to 38% in Urabá, highlighting the importance of this initiative that will directly benefit over 4,000 people who can now enjoy dignified living spaces.

The intervention in the homes of families in Nueva Colonia is carried out using the methodology of the Hogares Saludables program by Cementos Argos, which has so far improved more than 4,000 homes. This effort helps to close the poverty gap and address one of the greatest challenges for families seeking new opportunities: their housing conditions.
