In 2023, 45% of Grupo Argos' revenue came from 20 countries and territories outside of Colombia
22 July 2024- Two decades ago, Cementos Argos entered the United States and established a geographic footprint in 15 Latin American countries. Today, its investment in Summit Materials, a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange, is valued at over COP 8 billion.
- Celsia recently announced its expansion into Peru with a wind energy project, adding to its installed capacity of approximately 2,000 MW of electricity generation in Colombia and Central America, of which 70% comes from renewable sources.
- Odinsa manages Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito, which was named the Best Regional Airport in South America by Skytrax, and the Green Corridor road concession in Aruba.
As part of its selective and profitable growth strategy, Grupo Argos has consolidated its international presence over the past decade through its businesses in construction materials, energy, and road and airport concessions. By the end of 2023, out of COP 22.6 trillion in revenue, 45% came from the company’s international operations across 21 countries and territories in the Americas. This geographic footprint has also enhanced Colombia’s export capacity, with exported tons increasing by 12% last year.
This international presence reaffirms Grupo Argos’s position as a key infrastructure asset manager in the Americas:
- Cementos Argos has had direct investments in the United States since 2005 and in Central America and the Caribbean for several decades, making it one of the first Colombian multinational companies. This vision has allowed it to diversify revenues across countries and currencies, strengthen culturally to grow in different segments, and access liquid markets with new portfolio investments.
- Celsia operates in Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Peru, driving the energy transition in Latin America.
- Odinsa manages road concessions in Colombia, Aruba, and Ecuador, handling more than 100,000 vehicles daily, and the airports in Bogotá and Quito, which serve over 45 million passengers annually.
With the consolidation of investment platforms in solar energy generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, roads, and airports, Grupo Argos continues its profitable growth trajectory with new investment opportunities in the Americas, attracting global capital to meet the region’s infrastructure needs.
