Grupo Argos Foundation, Presentes, and Comfama have launched a donation campaign to support the community of Venecia in response to the disaster caused by a winter storm

18 July 2024
  • Grupo Argos Foundation, which coordinates Grupo Argos, Cementos Argos, Celsia, Odinsa, and Summa, along with Presentes Corporación and Comfama, have launched campaigns for employees and the general public. So far, these campaigns have received contributions totaling approximately COP 50 million, which will be used to support the community.
  • To further assist, Cementos Argos has agreed with the Venecia City Hall to donate cement for infrastructure recovery, the Pacífico 2 concession of Odinsa is providing the necessary heavy machinery to remove debris from the landslide, and Celsia will donate 200 water filters to support areas with supply issues.
  • The different companies are working together to coordinate the delivery of aid, maximize the impact of donations, and address structural problems caused by the winter storm, including access to potable water due to damage to the aqueduct and ongoing geological events that could worsen the situation for the families.

In the municipality of Venecia, Antioquia, a torrential downpour destabilized the mountainside surrounding the area, causing a phenomenon known as torrential flows that swept away mud and debris, leaving families homeless and in a vulnerable situation.

To provide solutions and contribute to the well-being of the Venecia community, Grupo Argos Foundation, Presentes, and Comfama have launched a donation campaign aimed at connecting the desire for cooperation from their employees and the general public with the needs of the municipality affected by the winter storm.

Donations can be made at: https://presentes.co/dona/

To amplify the impact of the campaign, for every peso donated by Grupo Empresarial Argos employees, Grupo Argos Foundation will match that amount.

To date, the donations received from the various campaigns have exceeded COP 50 million.

“In this emergency, our mission is to coordinate with various efforts being made by the Venecia Mayor’s Office and the Antioquia Governor’s Office, prioritizing the community’s needs and addressing the ongoing structural effects caused by the combination of a climatic event and a geological event over the past two weeks. This is a situation that we can only overcome together.”
