- In 2023 alone, Grupo Argos Foundation added more than 3,800 hectares of restored and protected strategic ecosystems for the country, including the Andean forest, tropical dry forest, tropical rain forest, and mangroves in Colombia.
- Thanks to eight conservation and restoration programs, Grupo Argos Foundation has contributed to the restoration and conservation of more than 22,700 hectares in Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Tolima, and Valle del Cauca. Additionally, in the past year, it led the signing of 50 new conservation agreements and reached the milestone of planting more than five million native trees in six departments over the last five years.
- World Environment Day aims to raise awareness about the importance of caring for ecosystems and biodiversity worldwide. This year, the United Nations focused on ecosystem restoration as a primary commitment of humanity for the future of new generations.
With the aim of contributing to the conservation and restoration of biodiversity in Colombia, Grupo Argos Foundation leads the implementation of eight programs in Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Tolima, and Valle del Cauca to support the protection of strategic ecosystems such as the Andean forest, tropical dry forest, tropical rain forest, mangroves, and wet forest. To achieve this, the foundation seeks to work closely with rural communities to amplify the impact of its conservation efforts, which in 2023 alone contributed to the conservation and restoration of 3,800 hectares and the protection of more than 16 watersheds in the country.
“We are aware that all the efforts we make today will be crucial for the future of our ecosystems. That’s why, at Fundación Grupo Argos, we work with communities and allied organizations to promote the sustainable development of regions and contribute to the conservation of species and the biodiversity of our country.”

Executive Director of Grupo Argos Foundation
In the past five years, thanks to its conservation efforts, Grupo Argos Foundation has contributed to the protection of more than 20 watersheds in the country and, collectively, has planted over five million native trees in the departments of Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre, Tolima, and Valle del Cauca. This has also created more than 1,630 green jobs, supporting the restoration and conservation of over 22,700 hectares of forest and mangrove.
Last year, the foundation announced an important partnership with the American firm Terraformation to accelerate ecological restoration processes in southwestern Antioquia, which will allow the addition of 2.3 million trees in the next three years in this region of the country.
Finally, understanding the role of communities in biodiversity protection, the foundation works closely with educational institutions and their teachers to advance environmental education processes in the country. Currently, 334 educational centers, 3,573 teachers, and 90,566 students in 13 departments of Colombia are participating in these processes.
