Grupo Argos and its companies, Cementos Argos and Celsia, reaffirm their leadership among the most sustainable companies in Colombia, according to Merco

  • For the fifth consecutive year, Grupo Argos ranked first among Colombia’s most sustainable business conglomerates, securing the 9th position (+1) in the general ranking.
  • Cementos Argos was recognized as the leading company in its industry, ranking 20th (+2) in the overall list of the 100 best companies in environmental and social management in the country.
  • Celsia, meanwhile, reached the 37th position (+5) in the ranking, reinforcing its leadership in the energy sector for its ability to generate value while maintaining a balance between social well-being and environmental stewardship.
  • With over 83,300 surveys conducted and 15 sources of information consulted, the Merco ESG Responsibility ranking is an annual evaluation of companies based on their social, ethical, governance, and environmental management. Key factors assessed by this index include corporate responsibility toward employees, commitment to the environment and climate change, transparency and good governance, and overall contributions to communities across the country.

For the fifth consecutive year, the companies of Grupo Empresarial Argos have been recognized among the most responsible companies in Colombia, according to the latest Merco ESG Responsibility ranking. This ranking evaluates the top 100 organizations in the country based on their environmental, social, ethical, and governance management. This year, Grupo Argos maintained its position in the top 10, ranking 9th. Cementos Argos secured the 20th position, while Celsia ranked 37th, reaffirming their leadership in sustainability and corporate responsibility.

In 2024 alone, Grupo Empresarial Argos made social and environmental investments exceeding COP 108 billion, of which more than COP 38 billion were executed by Grupo Argos Foundation. These investments contributed to the restoration of over 25,600 hectares of strategic ecosystems in the country, including tropical dry forests, humid forests, wetlands, and mangroves, as well as positive transformations for communities in 18 departments across Colombia, benefiting more than 1.3 million people.

Ranking Details

Grupo Argos stood out as the top-ranked business conglomerate and secured the 9th position in the overall ranking. It also reaffirmed its leadership in environmental management, ranking 9th; in ethics, transparency, and corporate governance, it ranked 7th; while in the social ranking, it stood out in 15th place for its commitment to employees, customers, and communities.

Cementos Argos was recognized as the leader in its industry and ranked 20th in the overall ranking due to its outstanding sustainability performance. In environmental management, it secured the 19th position, 16th in corporate governance, and 27th in social management.

Celsia ranked third among energy companies and secured the 37th position in the overall ranking. It also reaffirmed its leadership in the industry through its environmental initiatives, ranking 15th, while placing 44th in social management and 38th in corporate governance best practices.
