- In 2024, for the first time, a Barranquijazz event will take place in a public park in the city, offering the community the opportunity to enjoy a free, open-air musical experience, promoting culture and strengthening the social fabric.
- Barranquijazz al Parque will be held next Saturday, September 14, at Realismo Mágico Park and will feature the Caribbean Symphony Band, which will perform Colombian Caribbean genres under the direction of Maestro Eder Hernández Martínez.
- For 28 years, the Barranquijazz Festival has brought a wide cultural offering to the people of Barranquilla, also serving as a stage for important academic and educational activities for musicians and young people.
Barranquilla is getting ready to host the first edition of Barranquijazz al Parque, an event made possible by the partnership between this prestigious festival and Grupo Argos, with the aim of offering city residents the opportunity to enjoy a concert that honors Caribbean culture in an open-air setting. This innovative initiative will take place next Saturday, September 14, starting at 4:00 p.m. at Realismo Mágico Park, located in the Riomar district in the northern part of the city, and will feature free admission for all.
We are proud to contribute to the strengthening of Barranquilla’s social fabric through public spaces and their appropriation. Barranquijazz al Parque is an example of how culture and music can come together to revitalize community life and offer spaces where citizens can meet, enjoy, and dream. Over the past 10 years, we have delivered more than two million square meters of public space in the metropolitan area, convinced that each square meter positively transforms people’s lives.”

The event will take place as part of the 28th edition of the festival and will feature a special performance by the Caribbean Symphony Band, a group composed of 40 talented children and teenagers from the municipality of Galapa, Atlántico, under the direction of Maestro Eder Hernández Martínez. These young musicians, aged between 6 and 14, have stood out for their dedication to promoting and preserving the sound heritage of the Colombian Caribbean, performing genres such as vallenato, bullerengue, cumbia, and porro. The band has also received various awards and recognitions, establishing itself as one of the most important youth symphony bands in the region and the country.
The Realismo Mágico Park was built and delivered to the community by the Barranquilla Mayor’s Office and Grupo Argos under the premise of reflecting the Caribbean region’s identity through the conservation of native species and the implementation of innovative, creative, and inclusive spaces with a cultural vocation. This is why it was selected as the ideal venue for the first edition of Barranquijazz al Parque.
The park spans 10,000 square meters of public space, equipped with a cultural plaza for multiple activities, a children’s area, a picnic zone, 120 meters of cycling paths, and an art trail functioning as an open-air gallery, featuring representative works by local artists. Additionally, it has a small amphitheater that has been used for rehearsing various cultural activities in the city.
